James A. Brown of Exton, passed away on Sept. 6, 2017 at Pocopson Home.  He was born to the late Norman and Rose Marie Brown, he moved to Oklahoma as a teenager to help on his grandfather's farm.  He pursued a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Oklahoma State University and was immediately drafted in the Vietnam war.  A self-taught computer programmer, the Army utilized his skills in Alaska from 1970-1972.  Afterwards, he worked as a database administrator for large corporations in and around Philadelphia.  Jim was kind, gentle, funny, extremely intelligent and a problem-solver.  Unfortunately, he was no match for Alzheimer's , enduring a fifteen year battle, eight of which were spent in nursing homes.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Mary, his loving son, Zachary, and siblings Gerri (George) Csizmazia, Norman (Liz) Brown, Jr., Donna Brown, Michael (Debbie) Brown, and Wayne Brown.  He is also suvived by many nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.  A special thank you to neighbors Sandy Jenkins and the late John Espenlaub whose care for Jim improved the quality of his life.  The family appreciates the compassion of Walmart of Exton, the Adult Care of Chester County, the direct care staff at Southeastern Veterans Center and everyone at Pocopson Home.  A celebration of Jim's life will be held in late October.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jim to Pocopson Home, 1695 Lenape Rd., West Chester, PA  19382.
