William Gavin Obituary

William C. “Bill” Gavin, passed peacefully in his home on August 30, 2020 after a long struggle with Parkinson’s.  He was a loving husband to Linda for 55 years; loving father to Sheri L. (Gavin) Spallone (Mark) and Kathleen L. (Gavin) Finch (Ronald) and a loving grandfather to Ryan, Nicholas and Lauren Spallone; Ronald, Patrick and Shannon Finch.  He is also survived by his brother Thomas Gavin (Betty) and brother-in-law, Alan Mann as well as many nieces and nephews.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Michael F. and Helen (Bugey) Gavin, brothers Francis and Leonard Gavin, sister Patricia (Gavin) Mann and nephew Robert Mann.

Bill was a former Sergeant with the United States Air Force.  He was stationed in Columbus, Ohio and Honolulu, Hawaii.  He was a former member of both the Columbus, Ohio and Lionville Lions Clubs.  Bill ran the Lionville Lions Bass Tournament for 15 years at Marsh Creek Lake.  He was also a coach and umpire for the Lionville Youth Association.  Bill loved gardening and working in his yard.  He loved the beach and the ocean.  Bill had quite a sense of humor and you could often find him cracking himself up with his own jokes.  He loved watching sports, especially the Phillies, Eagles and the Ohio State Buckeyes. 

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in SS Philip and James Church, 107 N. Ship Road, Exton, PA 19341.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED AND SOCIAL DISTANCING MUST BE PRACTICED.  Inurnment in Philadelphia Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lionville Youth Association or LYA, C/O Bill Gavin, P.O. Box 475, Lionville, PA 19353.
