William Joseph Curry

William “Billy” Joseph Curry, 83, of North Wildwood, New Jersey and Marco Island, Florida passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023, in North Wildwood.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Margaret Anne Curry (née Doyle); his children, William Curry Jr., Wynne Dillon (Daniel Dillon), and Stevenson Curry (Colleen Powers); his sister, Joanne Sheridan (née Curry [Ronald, deceased]); his grandchildren, Kerry Anne, Deanna, Adair, and Eamon; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many close friends.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1939, Bill was the fifth of six children and the only son of the late William and Winifred (née Lawler) Curry and grew up in the Schuylkill neighborhood of Philadelphia. Bill worked for Philadelphia Electric Company/PECO Energy until his retirement. He and Peggy owned and operated a small hotel in North Wildwood (The Cherry Hill) and together started an electrical contracting business (Curry Electric, Inc.).

Bill enjoyed watching the Eagles and Phillies, rooting for college basketball and football, and spending time with his dog, Molly. He would often strike up conversations with other dog owners he would encounter while walking Molly by the beach in North Wildwood. He was a very social and outgoing person, and the richness of his life is demonstrated by the close friends he enjoyed spending time with over his many years. In both his professional and personal lives, William embodied the values of hard work, kindness, generosity, integrity, and pride, and lived a full life prioritizing family over self while also finding time to do that which he enjoyed.

He is predeceased by his parents and his sisters Eleanor “Nancy” Peterson (Jack), Geraldine Tobash (Edward), Margaret Jarzyna (Stanley), and Virginia “Pootsie” Staskin.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass 10:30 A.M. Thursday, January 12, 2023 at St. Dorothy's Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, PA  19026 where friends may call 9-10:15 A.M. at the Church.  Interment Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA  19064.
