William “Bill” Craig Tomlinson was born on September 5, 1945 in Philadelphia to Lee Mercer
Tomlinson and Kathryn Craig Tomlinson. He passed away peacefully, at home, on
September 25, 2021.
Bill is survived by his children, Jeffrey Tomlinson and Jill Tomlinson, his grandchildren, Ethan
Coover, Wyatt Tomlinson, Savannah Carr, and Ian Tomlinson, his sisters Paula Tomlinson
Milnes and Elizabeth “Betsy” Tomlinson Kelly, and his former wife Nancy Moenius Tomlinson.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Tomlinson Coover, and his parents.
Bill grew up in Delaware County and attended Marple Newtown High School. He graduated
with a BA degree in Economics from Gettysburg College in 1967. After college, Bill joined
the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Returning home, Bill earned his CPA
license and began a career in accounting first at Coopers & Lybrand in Philadelphia and then
at Bell Atlantic. After retiring from his accounting career, Bill broadened his credentials
becoming an Enrolled Agent and began a 20 year career as teacher and tax advisor at Block
Advisors. He loved helping his clients solve their trickiest tax challenges and making their
most complex tax issues feel manageable.
Bill had a 50 year love affair with golf, most recently as a member of the White Manor
Country Club in Malvern. His love for golf was rivaled only by his devotion to his family and
the Philadelphia Eagles, as a 35 year season ticket holder.
