October 21, 1959 - January 29, 2020
Victor (Vic) Derrick passed away suddenly at the age of 60 on January 29, 2020. Vic was lifelong resident of the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia. He started his professional career at a young age as a bank teller and at the time of his passing was Chief Operations Officer at Freedom Credit Union. He was a proud member of The South Philadelphia String Band where he played banjo and held many positions throughout his tenure with the band including Business Agent. He also served many terms as Chairman and was recently inducted into the bands Hall Of Fame. Vic was a man who always had a smile and enjoyed making others smile. He enjoyed spending time in North Wildwood with Kathleen, especially at Anglesea Pub, MudHen and on his deck. He was a man who was always generous and would help anyone in need and was loved by many.
Vic is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Kathleen (née Daly); his loving children Francis, Kaitlyn (Brian) DeGeorge and Jarod; his loving nieces and nephews Brandon Jr., Anthony, Michael, Joey, Avery and Deecon.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass Thursday, 11:00 AM at St. Gabriel Church, 29th & Dickinson Sts., Philadelphia, Pa 19146, where friends may call from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to mass at the church.
Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers family prefers contributions go toward Vic’s Funeral Expenses, payable to the Logan Funeral Home, 2901 Wilder St., Philadelphia, Pa 19146.
