Thomas White

Thomas "Tom" White, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, in Collegeville, PA at the age of 90. Born to the late Matthew and Mary (nee Lynch) White on May 4, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA.  

Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army before attending St. Joseph's University, where he graduated with a strong sense of civic duty. Inspired by President Kennedy's call to service, Tom embarked on a career with the Department of Defense in Philadelphia. His efforts in the late '70s were pivotal in campaigning to keep the Quartermaster Department in the city, preserving jobs and community spirit.

Known for his captivating tales, Tom reminisced about his days playing basketball with legends like Paul Arizin and Paul Westhead, and his times as a champion in CYO basketball teams. His summers as a North Wildwood Beach Patrol lifeguard were the stuff of local legend. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he fondly recalled the 1948 Philadelphia Athletics' pennant chase, a testament to his deep-rooted love for his hometown.

Predeceased by his loving parents Matthew and Mary (nee Lynch) White and his loving sister, Mary Rusher, his wife, Sue, his son Tommy and granddaughter, Regan.  He is survived by his children: Michael, John (Sinead), Patrick (Kristen), Paul, Matthew (Claire Roden), and Katheryn (Christopher Miller) and his six grandchildren: Trent Miller; Sean, Caitlyn, Logan, Andrew, and Rosa White.  Tom is also survived by his favorite nephew, Matt Rusher (Liz), and his nieces, Jane and Sarah. 

 
An interesting and spirited man whose passion for life and his love for his city were evident in every tale he shared. His stories, often highlighting the lives of his parents, his beloved sister, Mary Rusher, his family, and the characters of Philadelphia were always a pleasure to hear.
