Stanley Wells, Jr Obituary

Stanley P. "Stan" Wells, Jr., a man known for his kindness, humor, and courageous spirit, passed away peacefully in Philadelphia, PA, on January 20, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on July 30, 1949, to the late Stanley P. and Helen (Seltzer) Wells.

Stan's life was one marked by devotion to his family and his work. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Nancy L. (Bachler) Wells, who was not only his partner in life but also his best friend. Together, they raised their daughter Kristen J. Wells, who, along with her fiance Mitchell Doris, brought immense joy to Stan's life. He was a supportive brother to Jean (Wells) Strauss (husband Bruce), as well as Barbara (Wells) Burns (husband John). Stan's love and guidance will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were like an extended family to him.

Professionally, Stan dedicated many years to the Internal Revenue Service, from which he retired in 2009. His commitment to his work was evident in the relationships he built and the respect he earned from his colleagues. Even after retirement, Stan remained actively involved with his former co-workers and associations, always willing to lend a helping hand or share his wealth of knowledge.

Beyond his dedication to his career, Stan was a man who found great pleasure in the simple joys of life. He was an enthusiastic sports fan. Not only playing different sports himself, he enjoyed listening to, and watching multiple games at one time. He had a great passion for gardening and tending to the beautiful flowers that he cultivated with care. His garden was a testament to his patience and a place of tranquility where he could reflect and appreciate the beauty of nature. It was also a gathering place where family and friends could enjoy his company and the fruits of his labor.

Stan's sense of humor was a gift that he shared freely, brightening the days of those around him. His smile was infectious, and his ability to find humor in everyday situations was one of the many qualities that drew people to him. Stan's courage, another defining trait, was apparent in the way he faced life's challenges with a positive outlook and unwavering strength.

As we say goodbye to Stan,  we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, laughter, and the courage to face each day with a smile. He will be deeply missed, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
