Shirley was born on October 12, 1929, in Philadelphia, and spent over 60 years of her life in the Westbrook Park section of Clifton Heights, where she raised her family and created a home filled with love and warmth.
Shirley was the daughter of the late Maurice and Mary Eastburn. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Robert McGowan, her daughter, Cheryl Lewis, her grandson, Christopher Lewis, and her great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Lewis. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as “Nanny.” She particularly loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and playing endless board games with them. No one ever left her house without feeling cherished, fed, and comforted by her presence. Shirley was also known for always looking her best, with her hair and makeup done to perfection, a true testament to her beauty.
