Sharon Artingstall Obituary

Sharon Eileen Artingstall, a cherished wife, devoted mother, adored “Mom-Mom”, and a friend to many, passed away at the age of 67 on November 14, 2024. Sharon was born on May 13, 1957, to her loving parents Janet and John Metscher.

Sharon's journey in life was marked by her enduring dedication to her family and the community. She shared over four decades of marriage with her beloved husband, Ron, and together they raised two remarkable sons, Trevor, married to Brigid, and Thomas, married to Kaitlin. Sharon's joy was multiplied with the arrival of her four grandchildren, Ronan, Orla, Fiona, and Brody, for whom she had a boundless love and with whom she created countless cherished memories.

A proud graduate of Marple Newtown High School, Sharon's professional journey was characterized by her unwavering commitment and service to others. For over 20 years, she served as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the principal of Swarthmore-Rutledge School. Her contributions were not merely administrative but were deeply rooted in the school community, where she was respected and loved by colleagues, students, and parents alike. Sharon's retirement in September was a bittersweet moment for all who had come to rely on her kindness and efficiency.

Sharon's life was a tapestry of interests and passions. She was an avid puzzle solver, a gardener with a green thumb, a baker of delectable treats, a crafter of beauty, and an enthusiast of the outdoors, enjoying swimming, cycling, and walking. She also found solace in the pages of a good book. Yet, above all, Sharon's favorite pastime was being in the company of her family, especially delighting in the growth and adventures of her grandchildren. Her bonds of friendship were legendary, as Sharon nurtured relationships with a close-knit group of girlfriends, some of whom she cherished since kindergarten. These friendships were a source of strength, laughter, and mutual support, and stand as a testament to Sharon's ability to touch lives profoundly and positively.

Sharon was loving, generous, and selfless. She approached life with a spirit of giving, always placing the needs of others before her own and doing so with a smile that could light up the darkest of rooms. Sharon's legacy is one of love and selflessness, qualities that those who knew her will carry forward in their own lives. Sharon is survived by her husband, Ron; her sons, Trevor (Brigid) and Thomas (Kaitlin); her grandchildren, Ronan, Orla, Fiona, and Brody; and her sister-in-law, Val. Each of these individuals was a beacon of joy and purpose in her life.

Sharon's battle with breast cancer was faced with the same courage and grace that characterized her entire life. Her strength in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to be a guiding light. As we say goodbye to Sharon Eileen Artingstall, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart that generously loved. She will be profoundly missed, yet her spirit will remain with us, nurturing our gardens, sweetening our treats, and guiding our steps on the paths she loved to walk. Sharon's life was a beautiful puzzle, each piece placed with intention and love, leaving us with a picture of a life well-lived and a woman deeply cherished.
