Shamus William Sharkey, age 24, of Grays Ferry, passed away on July 17, 2025, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on December 22, 2000, in Philadelphia, Shamus brought light, laughter, and energy into every room he entered. A proud graduate of Neumann-Goretti High School, he was a gifted athlete who played both basketball and football. Known for his goofy sense of humor, infectious smile, and signature dance moves, Shamus was truly the life of the party.
He was a devoted father to his beloved son, Greyson, who was the joy of his life.
Shamus is survived by his loving mother, Dana McCarron, and father, Jerome (Marie) Sharkey; his siblings, Amanda and Kelsey; stepbrothers; Giovanni and Chase, his grandmother, Helen Dever; his uncle, Sean (Karlene) Sharkey; and his cousins, Sean, Shane, Brie Billingsley, and Sean Sharkey. He is also survived by his special friend, Madison, the mother of his son, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Cathleen Mancini, Jerome Sharkey, and Hugh McCarron, and his aunt Kayleen (James) Billingsley—all of whom surely welcomed him with open arms.
Shamus’s legacy lives on through the laughter he sparked, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely. He will be missed beyond words.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM, July 24, 2025, St. Gabriel Church, 29th & Dickinson Sts, Philadelphia, PA 19146.
