Ruth Steward Buck, age 98, of Havertown PA, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, surrounded by family; leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and family that will live on for generations.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Francis Richard Buck, son Francis Richard Buck JR and long-time companion, Harry Garabedian.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Kathryn (Dave) Magee, Joan (Thomas) Myers, Georgette Buck, Marilyn Stryker, Lois McCorkle and Ruth Bloxton. She was the proud grandmother of 26 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren (+predeceased by 3) and two great-great grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life.
A woman of deep and unwavering faith, she found great comfort in reading her Bible and daily devotions. Ruth attended church every Sunday and when she was unable to physically attend she continued to participate through live streaming service from home. Ruth was most recently a devoted member of Collenbrook United Church, attended Cecilton United Methodist in Maryland and most of her life with Bethany Presbyterian Church.
She was a longtime employee of Sears where she worked her way up the ladder, retiring at 62 as the manager of her department.
Ruth found joy in life’s simple pleasures- sitting on the porch and watching the birds, especially hummingbirds, talking with her children, grandchildren and friends, and keeping up with loved ones on Facebook too. She also enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune!
She will be remembered for her unconditional love, her “grammy hugs,” her strength, her faith, and the way she made everyone feel at home. Her presence shaped the lives of so many – she WILL be missed.
In lieu of flowers, Ruth requested a donation be made to either Habitat for Humanity or Shriners Children.
