Rowland Smith Reeve, Jr.

Rowland S. Reeve Jr., 74, of Newtown Square, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023 with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Victoria A. (Gottfried) Reeve whom he married December 18th, 1976 in Chambersburg, PA and shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. In addition to his devoted wife Vickie, Rowland is survived by his two daughters, Jessica R. (Reeve) Duffy and her husband, Daniel of Flourtown and Lauren D. Reeve of Havertown; two grandchildren, Greta Mae Duffy (5) and Vaughn Mac Duffy (2); his sister, Daille R. (Reeve) Sharpless and her husband, S. Robert of Phoenixville, along with three nephews, Toby, Mike, and Chris and their families. 

Rowland was born in Philadelphia on August 4th, 1948 - a son of the late Rowland S. and Mary (Pancoast) Reeve. He attended The Haverford School and Lower Merion High School. He was a graduate of Villanova University where he received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Rowland went on to have a fulfilling and successful sales career at Grove Manufacturing and Cummins Engines and found his niche with fleet truck sales at O'Connor Freightliner and Freightliner of Philadelphia before retiring in 2013.

Known by many as "Captain Rollie", he was an avid fisherman on the waters of Avalon, NJ where his family spent many memorable years. Rollie also loved Nantucket where he surf fished with the same group of friends for 35+ years. He was awarded several trips through work, with one being an unforgettable venture to Alaska to fish for salmon and halibut. 

A truly wonderful father and husband, his girls were his world as were the dogs he treated as family throughout his life - Spanky, Petey and Lucy. Rollie was loved by many and his sense of humor and laughter were a highlight of any social gathering. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life the most - a good meal, a cold beer and a good day on the water.

A celebration of Rollie's life will be held Saturday, February 4th at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church - 625 Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. Visitation will be from 1:00pm - 2:00pm with services starting at 2:00pm.
