"Robert “Bob” John Walter, age 76, passed away on February 6th at 11:04 AM. Survived by his wife, Candace Louise Walter, his son Alan Benjamin Walter, and grandson Andrew Zampitella III. Robert was a graduate of Northeastern Christian Junior College (Associates in Theology), attended Lubbock Christian College, Graduate of Texas Tech University (Bachelors in Psychology) Graduate of Sunset School of Preaching (Ministerial Degree) Graduate of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology (Certificate in Electronics & Electricity) Graduate of LaSalle University (Masters in Marriage Family Therapy & Addictions) Robert worked with Riverside Care/Eagleville as a MFT & Addictions Counselor, as well as Amtrak as a Reservation Agent, until his retirement in 2012.
Robert was a Vietnam Veteran serving from March of 1969 to March of 1971. His job was an Observation Crew chief operating in a Cessna O-1 Bird Dog, Earning 150 Stick hours while in air. He additionally volunteered to assist the Search and Rescue team when available.
In high school, Robert won the Duke-Miller Wrestling Championship Trophy from J.P. McCaskey, In Lancaster PA. He had joined the boxing club at the YMCA, before military assignment, While in the army, he boxed Welterweight Champion Carlos Palomino. Robert joined the “Golden Gloves Association” after his service. While at Lubbock Christian College, he participated in the Golden Gloves State Championship, where he finished 2nd Place. Robert then remained active in the Golden Gloves Association- working with the youth.
After his graduation from Texas Tech University, he returned to Lancaster, PA, and started his work as an Admissions officer for Northeastern Christian College, his alma mater. After the closing of Northeastern Christian College, he worked as a licensed insurance agent, which then led to his 25 year tenure at Amtrak."
