Robert "Bob" Emerson Smith
Bob Smith passed away at his home in Broomall after a brief illness. He was born in Pottstown to Alice (Poley) and Robert D. Smith. He graduated from Limerick Elementary and Pottstown High Schools. He subsequently graduated from the Pennsylvania Military College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served two years active duty in the Army as an ROTC commissioned Second Lieutenant at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He also served our country as a federal civilian employee for the United States Navy in various engineering positions in the area of naval air research for 34 years. Bob earned a private pilot's license and he was a longtime member of the Trenton Navy Flying Club serving as Club Manager for eight years.
Bob married the late Margaret (Neiman) Smith in 1960. He was devoted to family members, especially his two children and three grandchildren. He was a very thoughtful and caring person in many ways including always remembering his relatives and friends' birthdays with special greeting cards. He enjoyed spending time with his local family as well as traveling to Northern California to his visit his sister.
Bob is survived by his son Greg Smith (Carol), his daughter Tracey Weller, his grandchildren Caitlyn, Rob and John Smith, his sister Carol (Smith) Arnold and her husband Gary Thompson, and nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Connie (Smith) Kressley.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on October 18, 2025 at 11:30am at Limerick Garden of Memories, 44 Swamp Pike, Limerick, PA 19468.
