Robert M. Rowntree of Springfield, age 64, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022 surrounded by his close knit family. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Christine (Wilkes); his father Robert N. (Helen) Rowntree; his children, Jen (Mike) Jenkins, Laura (Alex) Tedesco, Bob (Carly) Rowntree, and Barb (Mike) Overbeck; his beloved grandchildren, Lucy, Sam, Zachary, and Vivienne; his sister Carolann (the late Mark) Wertman. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by his mother Gilda (Colonna) Rowntree and nephew, Mark Wertman.
Anyone close to Robert is intimately familiar with his unique personality and unfiltered sense of humor. He was recently an accountant at Gulph Creek Hotels, and Robert’s coworkers enthusiastically expressed how much they loved their “grumpy old man.” The simple things in life made Robert’s days complete. He thoroughly loved watching sports, particularly the Flyers and Eagles, as well as listening to classic rock, finishing puzzles, working in his garden, and crossing tasks off of an endless list of DIY requests from his children. Robert was a man who prided himself on his ability to fix anything, and his legacy will endure for generations to come due to the impact he had on every life he encountered.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be planned for a later date.
