Robert Prophet Obituary

Robert Harry Prophet, known affectionately as Bob to his friends and family, departed this life on April 19, 2024, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Born on August 8, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bob was a man whose kindness, handiness, and loving nature left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he encountered.

Bob was the cherished son of the late George Herman and Jane Elliott (Scott) Prophet. His life was a testament to the values instilled in him by his parents, values which he carried throughout his entire life. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Marlene (Drybala) Prophet, and together they built a family founded on love, support, and laughter. His children, Robert G. Prophet and his wife, Susan, Deborah (Prophet) Carberry and her husband, Vincent, along with Kenneth M. Prophet and his wife, Tylisha, were the pride of his life.

The joy of Bob’s world was magnified by his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amy, Ryan, Courtney, Haley, Jayla, and Kelly, each of whom brought a unique light and happiness into his life. He was also a supportive brother to Allen Prophet and his wife, Jill, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with whom he shared a bond that distance could never diminish.

Bob's formative years were spent at Haverford High School, after which he pursued further education at St. Joseph's University. His professional life was a reflection of his passion for automobiles and his remarkable skill as an automotive technician. Bob spent many years working with McGarrity and Moser Auto Repair, where he honed his expertise and became a well-respected figure in the automotive community. He later joined the team at Videon Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, where he said he felt like he was among family. In 2020, after many years of dedicated service, Bob retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.

Bob's enthusiasm for life extended beyond his work. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies. The roar of engines at the Indy 500 and Daytona 500 stirred his soul, and he found relaxation in the game of golf. Myrtle Beach was a favored retreat where he could indulge in the "Salt Life," feeling the sand beneath his feet and the ocean breeze on his face.

Bob's life was one of active engagement and joyous participation. His hands, always ready to fix what was broken, were a metaphor for his approach to life: he was a fixer, a doer, a man who could be counted on in times of need. His kind heart, his loving embrace, and his readiness to help others defined who he was.

As we bid farewell to Bob, we do so with a celebration of the life he lived and the people he touched. His story does not end with his passing, for the memories he created, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he shared will continue to resonate with us all. Bob's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the quiet strength of a life well-lived.

We take comfort in knowing that Bob's journey was a fulfilling one, marked by the simple pleasures of life, the warmth of family, and the camaraderie of friends. He has left us with a blueprint for kindness, a reminder to cherish our loved ones, and an example of how to live a life with purpose and joy.

Though our hearts are heavy, we move forward with the love that Bob gave us, and the knowledge that his spirit remains with us, guiding, inspiring, and reminding us of the beauty of a life well-lived. Farewell, Bob, until we meet again.
