Rita Mallon Obituary

Rita Mallon

Rita Mallon, of Newtown Square, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old.

Born in February 1935, to Antoinette and Nicolas Civitella, Rita lived a full and joyful life surrounded by those she loved most. An excellent cook, avid reader and loving friend Rita had a soft spot for babies and children. Her wonderful sense of humor brought warmth and laughter to every gathering.

After retirement, Rita and her husband Mike enjoyed traveling, exploring nature, and delighting in the wildlife they encountered. They treasured time spent socializing with friends and, most of all, being with family.

Rita will be remembered for her kindness, quick smile, and deep love for those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and joy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Rita is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, Michael Mallon; their six children, Kathleen Lowery (Mark), Maureen Curran (John), Michael Mallon (Dottie), Patricia Haase (John), Teresa Emory (Bob), and Daniel Mallon (Dina); eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Thomas Civitella (Sue). She was preceded in death by her siblings, Dominic Civitella and Gloria Knapp.

Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 10:30am in St. Anastasia Roman Catholic Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073. Family and friends will be received in the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:15am. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Rita to the American Cancer Society, 1818 Market St., Philadelphia, PA  19103.

Forever loved, never forgotten.
