Richard Gilpert (77) of Coatesville, PA passed away after a long illness at his home with family by his side on September 1, 2025. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 23, 1947 to the late John and Monica Gilpert. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 53 years, Lynne (Coulter) Gilpert, his son Wayne Gilpert, his grandsons, John and Luke Gilpert, and was predeceased by his son, Eric Gilpert (John and Luke’s father). He is also survived by his sister, Joan (Gilpert) Hopely and many nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by his brother, David Gilpert, his sister Nancy (Gilpert) McCusker.
He was a devoted family man and a caring friend always lending a friendly helping hand whenever needed. He enjoyed the outdoor activities of hunting and running in triathlons, and also enjoyed traveling vacations with his family to many locations in the United States and also taking them out to dinners at restaurants.
He worked at Sun Ship and Dry Dock as Assistant Captain of Security for 15 years, and then started his own successful business as contractor in 1986. His customers were always impressed with the pride he took in completing his work to perfection. He retired in December of 2022.
A private viewing will be held on September 5, 2025 followed by cremation. A “Celebration Of Life” will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the American Legion Hall, 1112 Steel Road, Havertown, PA 19083 starting 1P-2P Visitation, 2P-3P Service, 3P-4:30P Luncheon.
