Rev. R. Sidney Pinch

The Rev. R. Sidney Pinch, 90, of Bryn Mawr, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, March 6, 2025.

The devoted husband of Catherine B. (Spelman) Pinch, Sid was born in Callicoon, NY, on April 12, 1934, as the eldest son of the late Rev. Raymond Pinch, pastor at Middletown Presbyterian Church in Media, PA, and his wife, Dorothy (Smith) Pinch.

A graduate of Media High School and an outstanding scholar-athlete at Princeton, Sid was drawn to the ministry from his youth. After attending Princeton Theological Seminary and Oxford University, Rev. Pinch was called by the Presbyterian church to lead churches in West Virginia, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. At once humble and dynamic in service to his vocation, he will be remembered for his love of learning, wise and empathetic counsel, and selfless and pure devotion to lifting up the lives of others.

Along with Cathy, Rev. Pinch is survived by his children, Frederick Pinch of Indianapolis, IN, Philip Pinch and his wife, Melissa, of Altadena, CA, Merryn Pinch of Seosan, South Korea, and Susannah Pinch of Midlothian, VA, as well as four adoring grandchildren, William Sidney Pinch, Genevieve Claire Pinch, Josiah James Pinch, and Eliza Jane Pinch. Also surviving him is his brother, Lewis Pinch, MD, of Omaha, NE.

His family will always hold Sid’s deep, boundless love in their heart.

Family and friends are invited to the committal ceremony on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Middletown Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 273 S Old Middletown Rd, Media, PA 19063. A Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. in Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church at the Chapel, 625 Montgomery Ave, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. Refreshments will be served following the services.
