Obituary

Raymond Norman Gabriel, known to many as Ray, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 5, 2023, in Broomall, PA. Born on April 29, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA, Ray lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of all who knew him.

Ray was the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Mary (nee Farnin) and a loving father to Raymond (Sharon) and Stephen (Nancy). He was a devoted and proud grandfather to his grandchildren, Amanda, James, and Lillian, and Felix The KAT. Ray was the devoted and loving son of the late Anna (nee Bilotta) Orio and late Pasquale Gabrieli. He was a cherished brother to the late Gloria (late Dr. Joseph) DiMedio, late Frank K. (Sarah) Gabriel, loving uncle to Ronnie Price, Linda Brown, Carolyn (Michael) D’Orazio, and Kenny (Regina) Gabriel. Ray leaves behind great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and other family who will miss him dearly.  Ray's family and friends meant the world to him, and he cherished the time spent with them, creating countless memories that will be forever treasured.

A lifelong learner, Ray studied Color, Illustration, and related coursework at the Antonelli School of Photography in 1957. He was well-read on various topics, including gardening, health and nutrition, home improvement, and positive thinking. His passion for learning and self-improvement was evident throughout his life and inspired those around him.

Ray served proudly in the US Army Chemical Corps from 1952-54, where he developed a strong work ethic and sense of duty. He went on to have a successful career in wedding photography and managed various printing companies before retiring in 1992. After retirement, Ray continued to work, running the shipping department of a family business, LPG Industries. There, he collaborated with his brother Frank, nephew Ken, and a great family of dedicated and talented people for many years.

A lover of music and community, Ray and his late wife, Mary, were active members of the Delaware County Community College Chorus, directed by Dr. Adeline Bethany. As part of Friendship Ambassadors, they brought peace, joy, and friendship to many countries around the world through song. Ray's gentle and optimistic nature shone through these performances, leaving a lasting impact on audiences.

Ray's interests extended to home improvement and gardening, where he showcased his creativity and eye for design. He completed extensive home improvements and designed beautiful stonework around his home. Ray maintained multiple home gardens, did impressive landscaping work, raised spectacular home-grown flowers, and created stunning floral arrangements. His artistic talents brought joy to many people on numerous occasions, over several decades.

A devout Catholic, Ray's strong faith in God was a guiding force in his life. His most important achievement was his 53-year relationship with his dear wife, Mary, and the pride they shared in their two sons. Ray's love for his family was unwavering, and his gentle and loving nature will be remembered by all who knew him.

Raymond Norman Gabriel leaves behind a legacy of love, optimism, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we celebrate his life and honor his memory, we are reminded of the lasting impact he has made on our lives and the many hearts he touched. Rest in peace, dear Ray
