Phyllis Sheely Obituary

Phyllis R. Sheely, 84, died peacefully on April 30, 2022 at her daughter Cheryl’s residence in Conneautville, PA. She was born on October 9, 1937, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Richard Reber and Eleanor Mildred (McKeever) Rohrer.

Phyllis graduated from Springfield High School, Class of 1955. Following graduation, she attended Millersville University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  Phyllis adored teaching and being a mother. Her career began teaching a third-grade class at Scenic Hills Elementary School. She married Wayne A. Sheely in the summer of 1963 and they had two daughters, Laurie and Cheryl.  She went on to teach at Covenant United Methodist Nursery School and also started the Springfield Baptist Church Nursery School at Springfield Baptist Church where she was a charter member. Phyllis loved and served the Lord in many ways. She was on the church’s Board of Missions, Board of Christian Education, was a Deaconess, member of the American Baptist Women’s organization, taught Sunday School and was the church pianist and organist for over 30 years.  She retired in 1995 after touching the lives of many, then enjoyed spending time in Sea Isle City and watching her grandchildren, Quinn and Katarina, grow. Those who knew Phyllis knew that she was a compassionate soul who loved people and her dogs, Perky, Mandi and Macey.

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents. Surviving in addition to her husband, Wayne, are her daughters Laurie Sheely Wilson and her husband, Bob, of Springfield; Cheryl Sheely Cameron and her husband, Glenn of Conneautville; two grandchildren, Quinn Cameron and Katarina Cameron, three step-grandchildren, Anthony Wilson, Timothy Wilson and his wife Brittany, and Victoria Wilson; one sister, Linda Rohrer Olsen and her husband Bo, of Wilmington, DE and her nephews Tom and Bob Olsen and their families.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 7th at Springfield Baptist Church 184 North Norwinden Drive, Springfield with time to greet the family starting at 10 am. Those who wish to remember Phyllis in a special way may make donations in her memory to Springfield Baptist Church, 184 North Norwinden Drive, Springfield, PA 19064.
