Philip R. Bertele

Philip R. Bertele (aka “Phil Johnson”), age 72, of Philadelphia, PA suddenly passed away on November 8, 2023.  Phil is the eldest son of the late Philip and Jean (Sheppard) Bertele, brother of the late Kevin (Debbie) and Jimmy Bertele, and uncle of the late Melissa and Baby Michael Bertele.  He is survived by his brother Bobby (Debbie) Bertele and sister Maryann (Paul) Scott.  Also survived by nephews Kevin (Megan), Robert, Andrew and niece Valerie Bertele, several grand-nieces and nephew, and his cherished cat, Mouse.

Phil was also a beloved resident of the Grays Ferry neighborhood in South Philly as proprietor of the Tasker Tavern.  He will be missed by many friends who enjoyed his demeanor behind the bar and was noted for assembling the greatest set of tunes on “the best jukebox ever”.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Viewing at 9:15 - 11:15 A.M. Wednesday, November 15th at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church, 2917 Dickinson Street, Philadelphia, PA 19146 followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 A.M.  Family and friends are also invited to attend his internment and SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Phil’s name to Saint Gabriel’s Parish.
