Patricia Joyce (Faron) Kohl, affectionately known as Pat by her loved ones, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, in Paoli, Pennsylvania. Born on December 12, 1936, in Upland, Pennsylvania, Pat was a beacon of love and faith throughout her remarkable life of 89 years.
Pat spent her early years in Ridley before embarking on a life filled with devotion to her family, her work, and her community. She married the love of her life, the late John "Jack" Frederick Kohl, on February 11, 1964, in Arlington, Virginia, and settled in Springfield, PA, where she lived for almost 60 years. Their enduring partnership was blessed with two sons, David F. Kohl and his wife, Debra, of West Chester, and Douglas F. Kohl and his wife, Victoria, of Wilmington, Delaware. Pat’s joy was multiplied with the birth of her grandchildren, Marissa Kohl and her husband Shane Burke, of Philadelphia, and Matthew Kohl, of Philadelphia. Her family circle extended to include many dogs, all of whom brought her immense happiness.
A proud alumna of Ridley High School, Pat demonstrated her lifelong love of learning by achieving an associate's degree from Delaware County Community College at the age of 70, a feat that filled her with immense pride. Her professional journey began with nine years at Scott Paper Co. After dedicating years to raising her children, Pat's compassionate spirit led her to volunteer at Metropolitan Hospital in Springfield, where her dedication and skill eventually earned her the role of Director of Public Relations, a position she held for five years before retiring. In retirement she worked part-time at Strawbridge & Clothier in housewares and furniture sales and also volunteered at Covenant UM Church.
Pat's commitment to serving others was evident in her additional volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, her baking contributions to a local homeless shelter as well as for countless events for her church. A devout Christian, she found joy in teaching the Bible and cherished the weekly gatherings with her “Faith Friends” from church. Pat's love for the outdoors was reflected in her enjoyment of walking all over Springfield and chatting with the neighbors she encountered. She also relished the time she was able to spend at her beach house in Ocean City, New Jersey. An avid reader, she also expressed her creativity through art and crafts and maintained her health and well-being in her final years through chair yoga.
Pat's life was characterized by her loving nature, her faith-filled heart, and her thoughtful acts of kindness. She was a friend to many and a stranger to none, always ready to offer a listening ear or a helping hand. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, her friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her sons, daughters in law, and grandchildren, Pat is survived by her brother, Terry Faron of Duncansville, her nephews William D. Kohl of Middletown and William J. Tyson of Media, and nieces, Lisa Arebea-Kohl of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, Pamela J. Tyson of Wilmington, DE, Stephanie Witmer of New Cumberland, Stacey McDermott of Middletown and Samantha Calhoun of Duncansville.
