Patricia Devlin Obituary

Patricia Devlin, age 54 of Broomall, PA passed away August 3rd peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family touched by her commanding presence. “Tricia” as she was known to so many was the daughter of Dorothea C. and the late George T. Catania. She grew up in Ridley Township, attended O’Hara, and graduated from Neumann University in 1990 with her BSN. She later obtained a master's degree in nursing from Widener University.

Tricia was dedicated to a life of service and helping others. In her 38 years in nursing, she fulfilled many roles. As a young teenager Tricia volunteered at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, and subsequently went on to work as an aide, med-surgical nurse, and spent decades in the Emergency Room. Tricia also served as a home health nurse caring for disabled child whom she treated as if he was her very own. Her energy and charisma were unparalleled and contagious. She left an impression on anyone who had the luck of crossing paths with her. Tricia’s passion was shared with thousands of future nurses in her role as an Educator at DCIU and Widener University where she served as a clinical instructor and Assistant Director for Nursing Simulation Center. Tricia served as an example of hard work, determination, and strength for the hundreds of students on their way to a nursing career.

Tricia had an impeccable sense of humor, and her quick wits and comments brought laughter to any conversation she was a part of. She kept a lifetime of close friends who called her “Pattie” and she was a beacon of light in her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother of 3 and was the go-to person for any emergency, whether it was a medical question or wisdom loaded advice. The word “giving” wouldn’t do her enough justice. She was a powerful, selfless woman who could do it all and did everything for others.

She was beyond stubborn and strong willed and worked full time while receiving treatment for cancer. She is survived by her husband, Joe, and her 3 children, Sean, Anna, and Ava (and her beloved dog, Shelby), her mother, Dorothea, her mother-in-law, Anna, her aunts, Kathleen and Mary, her uncle, Joe (Mary), her sisters, Dottie (Jeff) and Michele (Ed), her brother, George, her sister-in-laws, Anna (Chip), Hazel, Margaret, Mary (Terry), her brother-in-law, John (Patty), and many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was a real-life superhero who will be dearly missed.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
