Pamela Godwin Obituary

Pamela June Godwin, affectionately known as Pam, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on March 29, 1949, in Council Bluffs, IA, to Fred N and Carol (nee Hatfield) Humphrey, she brought light and love into the world that would resonate for decades. Her final days were spent in Wynnewood, PA, where she was surrounded by the warmth of her family as she valiantly battled the challenges of frontotemporal dementia

Pam was a beacon of love and kindness, touching lives with her passionate spirit. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Gill Godwin, and a cherished mother to her son, Chris, and his wife, Andrea. Her family circle included her caring brothers, Parke Humphrey with his wife Marilyn, and John Humphrey with his wife Cathy. She was a beloved sister to Joan Stroik who she is joining in heaven, sister-in-law to Joan Godwin and Gary Stroik, and a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, Laura Camp and her husband Fred, Cindy Stroik, Dan Stroik and his wife Annie, Zach Stroik, and Nathan Humphrey.

Pam's academic journey at Penn State University, where she studied Liberal Arts, was just the beginning of a life marked by achievement and service. Her intellect and dedication earned her membership in the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She was a trailblazer in the business world, founding Change Partners, LLC, and leading as President and COO at GMAC Insurance Personal Lines Agency Division. Her leadership extended to her role as President of the Philadelphia Forum of Executive Women and her significant contributions as a board member to several esteemed organizations, including Unum, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh, the Insurance Society of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Foundation. She was also a proud member of the Committee of 200, an invitation-only membership organization of leading women entrepreneurs and corporate innovators.

Pam's interests and hobbies were as diverse and vibrant as her professional life. She was an avid reader, consuming literature and newspapers with an insatiable appetite. Her competitive spirit shone through in her participation in 5K races, where she often triumphed in her age group. Pam's commitment to her community was evident in her involvement and contributions to numerous local charities, and her ability to nurture personal and professional relationships was unparalleled. She cherished the moments spent with her husband and son, whether they were at their home in Havertown or enjoying the tranquility of their shore house in Ocean City, NJ.

Those who knew Pam will remember her for the loving and kind presence she was in their lives. Her passion for her work, her community, and her family was evident in everything she did. She leaves behind a legacy of empowerment, philanthropy, and genuine connections that will continue to inspire those she touched.

Pamela June Godwin's life story is one of love, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the indelible mark she has left on the world. Her memory will be cherished and her spirit will continue to guide us. Pam's journey through life was a testament to her belief that with kindness and passion, one can make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
