Olufunke Olashore Obituary

Mrs. Olufunke Olashore, affectionately known as Funke or Ola, was a beacon of kindness and generosity whose light ceaselessly shone on all who had the fortune to cross her path. Born on July 28, 1960, in the historic city of Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, Funke's journey through life was a testament to the power of love, selflessness, and unwavering faith. On April 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family, Funke's earthly story came to a peaceful close in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania.

A woman of remarkable resilience and boundless energy, Funke's early life in Nigeria set the stage for a legacy of achievement and community service. She navigated her world with an open heart, a quality that naturally led her into a career in banking with the First Bank of Nigeria, where she was known for her warm smile and the sincere care she extended to every customer. Her entrepreneurial spirit later blossomed as she became the proud owner of the African Bukateria, a restaurant that not only served mouth-watering dishes but also became a hub of cultural connection and fellowship.

Funke was a nurturer at her core, a role that found its most profound expression within the walls of her own home. She was the beloved wife of Folusho Olashore and the cherished mother to Oluwaseun, Oluwatosin, Oluwabukola, and Oluwafisayo. Together, they built a family rooted in love and mutual respect. Her siblings, Iyabode Adekunle, Colonel Tunji Akanbi, Esther Bolaji Olaleye, and Olori Remilekun Omisore, all held her in the highest regard, each bearing witness to the incredible woman who touched so many lives.

Those who knew Funke will remember her for the boundless joy she derived from cooking, an art she likened to weaving love into every meal she prepared. She was a culinary maestro, found joy in watching movies, a fashion enthusiast, and a devout supporter of God's ministry. Her heart, always attuned to the needs of others, found its greatest joy in giving and in uplifting children and widows. The melodies of music filled her soul, inspiring her to dance through life's challenges with grace. Generosity was her second nature, and she gave not just from her wallet but from her soul, supporting God’s ministry and cherishing every moment she spent with children and music.

Funke's life was a symphony of selfless acts and loving gestures. She moved through the world with a grace that uplifted others, embodying the very essence of giving without the expectation of receiving. Her spirit was a wellspring of inspiration, reminding us all that to live fully is to love freely and to serve joyfully.

As we celebrate the life of Mrs. Olufunke Olashore, let us carry forward the torch of her legacy. Let her memory be a call to action for each of us to embody the virtues she lived by: to be generous with our time, selfless in our endeavors, and loving in every interaction. In honoring her, we commit to making the world a kinder, more compassionate place, just as she did with every day she was given.

Funke's story does not end here. It continues in the lives of those she touched, in the smiles of the children she adored, and in the melodies of the music she loved. She may have taken her final bow on this earthly stage, but her influence will echo in eternity.

To the world, she was Mrs. Olufunke Olashore, but to those who loved her, she was simply Funke, Mama Seun, Ola—a name synonymous with unconditional love and grace. Her departure is not a goodbye but a gentle reminder that while we may no longer see her among us, her spirit remains an indelible part of our lives, guiding us toward our better selves.

In the words of a motivational speaker, "Let us not dwell on the sorrow of her parting but on the profound joy that she existed." May we all find solace in the knowledge that Funke lived a life that truly mattered, and may we aspire to reflect her radiant light in our own journeys.
