Mildred Knorr Obituary

Mildred Lillian Knorr (née Kent), 95 died on 9/12/2022 at White Horse Village, a retirement community in Newtown Square, PA. She was formerly a resident of Springfield, Delaware County for 37 years. Mildred was the daughter of the late Edmond and Frances Kent. She was reared in Woodlyn, PA. She was the widow of Earl R. Knorr with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.

Mrs. Knorr graduated from Ridley Township High School in 1945. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from West Chester University in 1949.

She taught French and English in Avon-Grove High School, Unionville and Chadds Ford High School and Henderson High School in Chester County, PA.

She had a special talent for working with delinquent youths and taught at Sleighton School in Lima, PA for eight years and also at Cross County Community School in Folsom, PA.

Mildred was a talented pianist and continued to study and perform even in her late seventies. She also continued to study French at Alliance Française and Temple University in Philadelphia.
African violets were one of her interests and she won many ribbons for her plants. She was past president of the Springfield African Violet Society and was a member of the Philadelphia African Violet Society.

She loved the arts and was a subscriber to the Philadelphia Orchestra, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Walnut Street Theatre and the Players Club of Swarthmore for many years. Mildred was also a gourmet cook and an avid gardener. 
She was a long-time member of Church of the Redeemer, Springfield, PA.  She is survived by her son, Kevin Knorr of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughter Jennifer Knorr Harden, Son-in-law Christopher Harden and grandson Matthew of Manassas, VA and granddaughter Colleen Holmes and her husband Charles of Locust Grove, VA; a niece, great-niece and a nephew

Service; Monday September 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at Church of the Redeemer 145 West Springfield Road, Springfield, PA.

Burial; Philadelphia Memorial Park Frazer, PA.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to West Chester University, West Chester, PA.
