Mikayla Jelani Philpot

Mikayla Jelani Philpot, 21, was called back to Heaven on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. She was the adored daughter of Rebecca L. Powell-Laury and Antwan Smith and the late Darien Darnell Philpot, Sr.

Born in Wynnewood, PA on July 15, 2000, she was an Upper Darby High School graduate of 2018 and currently a student at Bucks County Community College, studying nursing. She was employed with Redner's Grocery as a cashier. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Christ Risen Ministry.

Mikayla enjoyed TV and movies. She especially like horror movies and anything on Netflix. She liked all kinds of music, her taste went all the way from R&B to Tom Petty and she even enjoyed songwriting, poetry, and dancing. Mikayla was an animal lover and liked cooking, traveling, shopping, gardening, swimming, photography, and collecting stuffed animals. She was into meditation, aromatherapy and astrology. But above all, she loved being with her family and friends.

Left behind to cherish her memory are mother, Rebecca L. Powell-Laury; father, Antwan Smith; grandfather, John Powell and her grandmother, the late Linda Powell; grandfather Jim Johnson and grandmother, Julia Philpot. Mikayla was one of a triplet and her brothers are Dariean Darnell Philpot, Jr. and Xavier Christopher Philpot; Isaiah Powell Smith, Antonio Christopher Dobson, William Edward Laury, IV and Cameron Philpot; sister, Chiara Philpot; uncles, Aaron Smith and Aaron Butler; aunts, Rachel Powell and Jackie Butler; godparents on her father's side, Irene Bridges and Dwayne Kennedy; godparents on her mother's side, Susan and Robert Orndorf; stepmother, Ceyanne Philpot, wife of the late Dariean Philpot, Sr. and stepfather, William Laury, husband of Rebecca Powell-Laury.

Also surviving are a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.

Home Going Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd., Broomall, PA 19008 is entrusted with the arrangements.
