Miguel P. Pulido, IV

April 4, 1953 ~ July 25, 2021 (age 68)

Obituary

Miguel P. Pulido, IV age 68, passed away July 25, 2021.  Miguel was born to Miguel III and Margaret Alice (nee Bridges) Pulido on April 4, 1953, in Philadelphia.  There, he was raised with his brothers Angelo and Christopher.  Miguel graduated from Dartmouth College in 1974.  He went on to earn his Master's in Social Work degree from Temple University.  Soon after college, he married Christina Recks.  Together, they raised four wonderful children:  Miguel V, Matthew, Morgan, and Maria.  He was widowed in 1995.

Miguel lived a life dedicated to Christ and helping others, which was evidenced in his career choices.  He taught Business Management, Business Ethics, and Applied Research and Statistics at Eastern University.  He served in leadership roles on numerous boards of trustees that provided resources for underserved communities, and also worked as a counselor in the Chester County Prison System.

Miguel met Sharon Shepherd and they wed in 1997.  Miguel and Sharon were two peas in a pod, enjoying time spent together serving the Lord and helping others.  This theme of serving weaved not only through his professional career, but also through his life in the church and greater community.   He was a member of Tenth Presbyterian Church for over twenty years and was installed as an elder in 2019.  At Tenth, he served in the Mercy Ministries, oversaw the church kitchen providing community dinners, and preached at the nursing home on the campus of University of Pennsylvania.  Miguel was especially passionate about his work with Gideons International, whose mission is to make the Word of God available to everyone, reaching souls for Christ.

Miguel loved his family greatly and enjoyed time spent laughing and joking with his children, grandchildren, in-laws, friends, and beloved dogs.  He enjoyed debate where no matter how far apart the sides were, his manner of discourse was always civil and respectful, and he balanced his disagreement with you, with his love for you.  He listened to you.  He prayed for you.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, his four children Miguel Pulido, V. (Mariel), Matthew Pulido (Jessica Carlton), Morgan Pulido (Brian Morant), and Maria Fields (Dominick), his beautiful grandchildren Eva, Carter, Harper, Gabriel, and Ethan, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Angelo (Jan) and Christopher (Kim), his mother-in-law, Josephine Shepherd, brother-in-law Osborne Shepherd (Amy), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
