Michael Lojewski Obituary

MICHAEL LOJEWSKI, age 56, passed away on May 15, 2020.     Beloved son of the late Francis, Sr. & Kathleen (nee O'Keefe) Lojewski.  Loving brother of Francis Lojewski, Jr., Theresa Librizzi, and Lisa (Jeff) Baylinson.  Adored nephew of Dolores Lojewski, Bunny Bennett, Teddi O'Keefe, and Michele Quigley.  Funeral services to be announced at a later date due to the Pandemic.

Dear Friends:
Hope each of you and your families are doing as well and still doings things safely during this unusual time. I know many of you have already personally known or heard about my very popular brother, Mike, who was born mentally handicapped, raised in a great Delco neighborhood that treated him like their very own, and was also primarily taken care of during much of his adult life by his devoted father, Frank Sr., for well over 20 years (they were extremely close and often inseparable) prior to his passing in 2004. Mike then later became an infamous resident of The Elwyn Institute where the whole surrounding campus simply referred to him as the "Mayor" do to his constant infectious ability to always uplift everyone and make immediate friends with anyone he met. He also loved sports where he cheered for his favorite Phillies, Eagles, 76ers, and St. Joseph's University Hawks... Later on, approximately 6 months ago, Mike was given the opportunity to move into a housing unit outside of the Elwyn campus - similar to a family living arrangement. He was naturally very exited and proud about his new home, the loving staff, and his fellow residence during the following months - and throughout their recent quarantine which had to be especially hard for anyone nearly as friendly and sociable as him.
As some may already be aware, just this prior week, after Mike was already fortunately tested negative for anything COVID related (precautious measures), he had some slight breathing problems, a headache, and some vomit symptoms. Mike was then taking to Riddle Hospital just to be routinely checked. His even heavier breathing and suddenly elevated temperature surprisingly would soon require help with a breathing tube, and then only hours later he would require a ventilator. It appeared maybe to be a form of bacterial pneumonia or maybe even possibly COVID related, which I learned from his ICU doctor, had a 90% mortality rate with Elwyn residence. Then after being on the ventilator just a few hours - Mike suddenly ended up on life support, with a form of septic shock, only to then sadly and suddenly pass away very soon thereafter to join God and his many late great family and friends.
Anybody who knew Mike or even just met him, likely already knows that words cannot begin to express the amazing impact he had on so many of the lives he touched. His sheer ability to always show love and passion for all people, along with his determination to only see the true good in everyone, was immeasurable! While his sudden loss can leave any of us feeling sad or heartbroken, we are still very strong in God's grace and forever grateful for the extraordinary impact he has had on the many lives he has touched... and we're also especially thankful for the positive difference many of you made in his! I'm just sorry to share this sad news along with not being able to reach out more timely to any of you who knew Mike personally (he was just way too popular for me to even keep track). A memorial service will likely be arranged for sometime later in July or early August. Meanwhile, may God always continue to bless each of you, your families, and our beloved special friend Mike!

Thank you.
Frank
