Maureen T. Oster, 71, of Philadelphia, passed away on April 24, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Maureen was the beloved daughter of the late Francis and Anna Mae (Keenan) O’Rourke. She carried the values of her family throughout her life, and those who knew her best will remember her as a woman whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and warmth to every room she entered. She was funny, loving, and generous, and she shared those gifts freely with her family and friends.
Maureen was the devoted wife of Herman Oster, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and friendship. She was a loving mother to Scott (Jackie) Oster and to Lauren (Larry) Quinn and Mom-Mom to Maddox, who brought her great joy and memories to her life.
Family meant everything to Maureen, and she treasured every gathering, conversation, and shared memory. She is survived by her brother, Michael (Jackie) O’Rourke, sister Ann Marie McCormick and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in passing by her sister Patricia Gendreau and brothers in law Patrick “Frenchy” Gendreau and Patrick “Pebbles” McCormick.
Maureen enjoyed crocheting, baking, and watching HGTV. She loved sharing her talents and creativity with others. Maureen was enlightened with company and conversation. She especially loved going to her shore house in Villas, NJ where family and friends were welcomed on Maur’s Patio.
Maureen showed unwavering courage and resilience throughout her battle with Cancer. Despite facing the challenges of her illness, she remained a beacon of hope and inspiration to all who knew her.
Family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:45am on Thursday, April 30th, 2026 in St. Gabriel’s Church, 2917 Dickinson St., Philadelphia, PA 19146. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am in the church followed by burial at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
