Matt Gallagher passed from this life on October 24, 2020 after struggling with his demons. No matter how Matt passed from this world, that moment cannot define his life. He is loved by family and friends and his ability to make others giggle, laugh, get angry, and cry will be forever missed. He is survived by his father, Barney, his mother, Mary (nee Currie), his sister, Donna, his brother, Kevin, his grandmother, Jeanne Currie, and many aunts and uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He acted as a big brother and protector to younger kids, as a comic stirring up trouble growing up, as an argumentative “opposite guy” and as a friend whenever he could. He was not afraid of hard work and enjoyed his work as a chimney sweep.
The sadness that we feel today is the sadness of one who could not shake his own demons. Matt is at peace now. He cannot be held back. He can be part of us now in a way he couldn’t when he was with us.
In lieu of flowers, family request that a donation be made in Matthew's memory to a local food bank or shelter.
Due to Covid19, funeral services will be determined at a later date
