Mary Ann O'Sullivan Obituary

Mary Ann Reilly O'Sullivan passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on November 7, 2024, at the age of 67, after a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer. Born on April 13, 1957 in Philadelphia, Mary Ann’s warmth and compassion were evident from her earliest days. She was a bright light in the lives of those who knew her.

The daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Reilly, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas and Joseph Reilly. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she dedicated herself to building a loving home for them. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Frank J. O'Sullivan;  their three children, Kevin O’Sullivan (Melissa), Erin Freed (Dan), and Bridget O’Sullivan; her siblings John Reilly (Sharon), Marty Reilly (Jodi), and Agnes Ware (Roger); 21 nieces and nephews, many cousins, and friends who became her chosen family. Mary Ann was also a beloved and doting grandmother to her cherished granddaughters, Abigail and Tessa, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Raised in Exton, PA, Mary Ann was a proud Girl Scout, attended Saints Philip & James School,  and graduated from Henderson High School. Before dedicating her life to her family, Mary Ann spent her twenties engaged in office work, where she often playfully claimed the title of breadwinner in her marriage. However, her true calling was found in the role of motherhood. Mary Ann's love for her children was her guiding force, and she considered raising them her proudest achievement.

Mary Ann also found immense peace and happiness in her happy place, Cape May, New Jersey, where she spent 40 summers making memories with her family and friends before retiring there with Frank in 2020.  From happy hour with friends to backyard Easter Egg hunts with her grandbabies, Mary Ann’s happiest moments were spent in Cape May. When she wasn’t enjoying a cocktail and a sunset on the bay, she was rooting for the Phillies (but only if they were playing well!). Mary Ann’s youthful spirit deserves to be remembered.

Mary Ann will be remembered as a truly one-of-a-kind person, a loving wife, a nurturing mother, a devoted grandmother, and a loyal friend. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion will continue to live on through the lives of those she touched.
