Mary Cummings Obituary

Mary E. Cummings (nee Weldon), a beacon of faith and kindness, passed away peacefully from a long battle with Lung Cancer on March 22, 2026, at her home in West Chester. Born on October 7, 1943, in Philadelphia, Mary lived a life marked by love, service, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late James Cummings, with whom she shared a profound and enduring love. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and nurturing as the cherished mother of her son, Tim, and his wife, Teri. Her grandsons, Tyler, Connor, Zackary, and Brock, will remember her as a guiding light and a source of endless support. She is survived by her sister, Pat Weldon, and predeceased by her siblings, Ann Funderburg, Ed Weldon, Tess Kalesnik, and Ronnie Bienkowski, all of whom shared in the Weldon family's close-knit bond. Mary's gentle spirit will also be missed by her faithful canine companion, Juno, who was a source of joy and comfort in her life.

A proud alumna of Notre Dame High School in Moylan, PA, Mary carried the values of her education throughout her life. She dedicated herself to a career of public service as a District Administrator for the Department of Public Welfare, where her compassion and dedication to helping others left a lasting impact on the community she served.

A devout Christian, Mary's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. It was this faith that inspired her to volunteer her time and talents at St. Bernadine Center in Chester, PA, where she touched the lives of many through her selfless acts of kindness.

Mary was the epitome of a faith-filled, loving, and kind soul. Her unwavering positivity and ability to see the good in every situation was a comfort to all who knew her. She faced life's challenges with grace and emerged from them with an even stronger conviction in her beliefs and love for those around her.

As we bid farewell to Mary Cummings, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as her presence once did. Mary's life story is a testament to the power of love and the enduring strength of the human spirit. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

May Mary rest in peace, secure in the knowledge that her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her extraordinary compassion and generosity. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain a guiding light for generations to come. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
