Marion McCarthy Obituary

Marion T. McCarthy (nee Pearce)

Marion T. McCarthy, 95, of Newtown Square, PA, and former long-time resident of Lawrence Park, Broomall, peacefully passed away on April 4, 2025, at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Born on October 3, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Marion Davis Pearce and sister of the late JoAnn Colletti. Marion was the beloved wife of William (Bill) McCarthy; loving mother of William McCarthy, Stephen McCarthy (Lucy), Susan Melchiore (Tom), and David McCarthy (Cheryl); loving grandmother of Colin McCarthy (Carol), Kristin McCarthy, David Melchiore (Lindsey), Amanda Orlando (Chris), Eric Melchiore (Lindsey), Stephen McCarthy, James McCarthy, and Anthony McCarthy.  She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

Marion was a graduate of West Catholic Girls' High School. She had a great sense of humor and an inquisitive mind. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, telling stories, writing poetry, reading, traveling, and playing cards, and would often reminisce about her roller skating days at Chez Vous where she met her devoted husband of 73 years, Bill.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Rd., Media, PA, 19063.  Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, N. Orange St. and Highland Ave., Media, PA.
