Marie Stewart (Rescheduled services March 23, 2026) Obituary

Marie R. Stewart, affectionately known to friends and family as "Coochie," passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, in Margate, NJ. Born on April 2, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA, she was a beacon of kindness and love throughout her 80 years of life.

Marie was the beloved daughter of the late James and Rose Stewart. She grew up in a warm and loving family, surrounded by her siblings Loretta (Tom) DeWaele, Dorothy (Dominic, predeceased) Berenato, Helen (Bill) Hare, and the late Joan (Ray) Brown, Roseann Black and Jimmy (Franny) Stewart. Her brother-in-law, Matty Black along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, will forever cherish her memory.

A proud graduate of Hallahan High School, class of 1963, Marie's academic achievements were just the beginning of a life filled with accomplishments and cherished relationships. After graduation, she embarked on a career that would span over three decades as a cocktail waitress at the Resorts Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Marie's dedication and vibrant personality made her one of the first employees to be hired when the casino opened its doors. Her gentle spirit and loving nature made her a favorite among patrons and colleagues alike, earning her a place in the hearts of many as a treasured friend and confidante.

Marie's life was marked by her kindness, loving nature, and gentle demeanor. These qualities were evident in every interaction, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her commitment to her work and the joy she brought to it were matched only by the love she had for her family and friends.

As we bid farewell to Marie R. Stewart, we celebrate a life well-lived and a soul that enriched the lives of so many. Her memory will continue to be a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to know her. Coochie's story is not one of sorrow but a beautiful testament to a life filled with laughter, love, and kindness. She will be profoundly missed and eternally remembered as a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. May she rest in peace, knowing that her legacy of love and gentleness will continue to resonate for generations to come.
