Marie Jean (Santore) DePaul

Marie Jean (nee Santore) DePaul, 97, passed away Saturday, June 11th, 2022. Born in Philadelphia on January 12th, 1925, a daughter of the late Rocco and Jean (nee Gilmore) Santore, whom she always spoke lovingly of. She was a resident of Marple for 58 years. After graduating from South Philadelphia High School, she went into defense work and worked the "swing shift" as a riveter for the J. G. Brill Co. She loved music and enjoyed being a USO Labor Plaza Hostess in Philadelphia. Before retiring, she worked for the Marple-Newtown School District for 20 years in the Business Office. She was a member of P.A.S.R. and MNRE. Marie supported many religious organizations and was a volunteer at nursing homes, including the Divine Providence Village. She enjoyed cruising to Bermuda, motor trips to Cape Cod, and she loved the Jersey shore. She also enjoyed writing letters and treasured her collections of pictures, and her tranquil moments reading poetry.

Marie is survived by her son Vincent J. DePaul and his wife, Sharon; three grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon and Megan. Also surviving are her beautiful nieces and nephews who she always kept in contact with.

She is predeceased by her husband, Vincent of 52 years who died in 2007, along with sisters, Marlene and Norma, brother, Frank and brother-in-law, John. 

A visitation will be Friday, June 17th, 2022 from 11 to 12pm in St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Rd., Broomall, PA 19008. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12pm in St. Pius X Church on Friday. Marie will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
