Maria DeMaio Obituary

Maria DeMaio, age 71, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024 with her loving husband Donald by her side. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her warmth, kindness and love touched everyone who knew her.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 2, 1953 to Philip and Antoinette Lipari, Maria found her true calling in nurturing those around her. While she took pride in her work as a medical receptionist while living on Long Island, her greatest joy came from being a wife, mother and grandmother. Her happiest times came from simple moments. Nothing made her happier than feeding the entire family at her large holiday gatherings and having quiet nights at home watching sports with her husband Donald and her grandchildren. She was a big sports fan and she and Donald attended many college and professional sporting events throughout the years. Siesta Key Beach was her happy place away from home and the sunshine and warmth always made her smile.

Maria’s home was always filled with love, great food and the sound of children’s laughter. As a mother of three children - Christina, Nicholas (Carinne), and Stephen (Ivelisse) - Maria created a home where love, understanding and support were always abundant. She attended every baseball and softball game and never missed a school concert. Her five grandchildren - Emily, Jacob, Noah, Sybella and Aislinn were the light of her life and she delighted in spoiling them with great food, love and attention. They truly meant the world to her. Maria also had two step grandchildren, Anthony Naranjo and Matthew Mercado who joined the family and are very much loved by all.

She is survived by Donald, her devoted husband of 51 years, her children and their spouses, her grandchildren and her sisters Anne Philcox, Fanny Wolf, and Joann Blase. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held privately.
