Kenneth J. Holt, known affectionately by friends and family as Ken, passed away peacefully on
December 2, 2025, at Paoli Hospital surrounded by his wife and children. Born on October 3,
1960, in Philadelphia, PA, Ken brought joy and warmth into the lives of those around him for 65
years.
Ken earned a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Journalism at Temple University. He worked full
time while attending college at Gullifty’s restaurant where he honed his talent for cooking and
was known affectionately as Boo-Boo. Ken attended Upper Darby High School.
After college Ken began his professional career as a Sales Executive, where he made significant
contributions to companies such as MCI Telecommunications, Verizon, and British Telecom. His
technical knowledge and charisma made him a respected figure in this industry. Following his
heart, Ken retired from sales to embrace his passion for cooking, becoming a chef and delighting
patrons at local restaurants with his pizza and other culinary creations.
Ken was a history buff and an avid photographer, he found joy in capturing moments and
exploring the depths of the past. Ken loved cooking and making delicious meals for family
holidays and gatherings, often preparing his best recipes in large quantities to share with friends.
When asked to share the recipe for his cream cheese dip he would do so but he never shared the
secret ingredient!
Gardening and mowing were meditative practices for Ken, and over the years his home was a
sanctuary for many adopted cats and dogs. Mitzi, Toby, Schlomo, Pip, Chrissy, Mitten, Midnight,
Mr. Wooz, Roxanne, Tug, Tasha, and Etta all found love and care in Ken’s home and heart. Each
Thanksgiving, Ken would prepare a special meal for his dog companions from the turkey carcass
ensuring they too celebrated the holiday. Tasha D. Dog said it was her favorite human holiday.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Mary Powers-Holt; his children, Thomas and Eliana, his
sister, Heather Holt; and his brothers, Dennis, Lawrence, Daniel, and Andrew Holt. Beloved
cousin Liz Pantle, his Aunt Judy and Uncle Bill Pantle. Pre-deceased by his father, Walter Byron
Holt his mother, Mary Ann Holt and his loving stepmother Bernita Holt. Each family member
carries forward a piece of Ken's spirit and heart.
Kenneth J. Holt lived a life marked by love, creativity, and generosity. His legacy is one of
laughter, culinary masterpieces, and a boundless capacity to care for others, whether on two legs
or four. Ken's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who had the privilege
of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but the stories of his spirited life will continue to
inspire those he left behind.
