Juanita Pfaff Obituary

Juanita Elizabeth Hart Pfaff, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at the age of 97.   She was born on September 5, 1927 in Louisville, KY.  She married James Ashwood Pfaff in June of 1947 and they enjoyed over 53 years of marriage before Jim’s passing in 2000.  They settled in Camp Springs MD, where she spent most of her adult life before relocating to Bryn Mawr, PA in 2019, where she was living at the time of her death.

Nita, as she was known to her family and friends, spent most of her life as a dedicated homemaker while also spending time volunteering in school and church activities.  Prior to having children, she worked as the secretary to the head of the Naval Aviation Electronics Service Unit, located on the grounds of the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC where her husband, Jim, also worked.  During the 1960s and 70s, she typed address stencils for US House of Representative’s mailing lists, providing extra income for her family.  In her 80s, she spent several years working as an assistant to the secretary of Camp Springs Community Church in Clinton, MD after volunteering there for many years.

Nita loved to read, sew and cross stitch. Her family has many things that she has made over the years including cross stitch birth announcements for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Failing eyesight caused her to stop cross stitching in 2024.

Juanita is survived by her sons, Dale (Kippy) Pfaff and Bruce (Sherri) Pfaff, her daughter, Terry (Dave) Hosan, her daughter-in-law, Susan Pfaff, 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Jim Pfaff; her parents, James and Anna Hart; her siblings, James (Marceline) Hart Jr, Dorothy Hart, Mildred (Arvel) Tharp and by her children, Janet Kay and Gerald Pfaff.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, May 16 from 6-8pm at Logan-Videon Funeral Home on Sproul Road in Broomall, PA.  A funeral service will be held at Grace Chapel, 1 W Eagle Road, Havertown PA on Saturday, May 17, 2025.  A time for greeting the family will start at 10am, followed by a service at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators - 993109 Nali Translation Project, a task that her son, Jerry, dedicated his life to. Jerry’s wife, Susan, continues this work to see the Bible made available in the language of the Nali people of Papua New Guinea.
