Joseph "Joe" Manzi Obituary

Joseph “Joe” W. Manzi, of Media, PA passed away September 10, 2021 at the age of 75.  Joe was Born on March 10, 1946 to the late Alfonso and Anne (Brown) Manzi.  He graduated from West Catholic High School in 1964.  He was a US Navy Navigator on the USS Fletcher and served in Vietnam 1968-1970.  He became an Operating Engineer with Local Union 542.  He married the love of his life, Fay Carol Vaughan in 1971 and they were blessed with 50 years of marriage. Joe enjoyed his summers at the shore and sitting on his deck with his wife by his side, looking at the ocean.  Joe was an animal lover and always had several dogs ..he enjoyed feeding the deer and birds.  He had many hobbies.

He was the pilot of his own twin engine plane and took Fay on many white knuckled adventures.  He was the Captain of his two boats.  He was a lover of all music and enjoyed live bands on the weekends.  Joe founded Joe Manzi and Sons, Inc. in 1978 and was a proud owner of his business with his sons.  Some of his happiest days were spent working with his sons on derailments.   He was known to many as the "wreck master" he would "shoe the iron horse".  Joe was a savvy Real Estate Investor.  Much of Joe’s career was spent erecting structures in Del Co and surrounding areas.  Joe erected and was very proud of one particular structure, the Papal Cross of Pope John Paul the second, that stands on City Line Ave. at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. 

Devoted husband to his loving wife of 50 years, Fay (nee Vaughan) Manzi.  Loving father of Joseph (Kasey) Manzi and Michael Manzi.  Loving grandfather of Carley.  Loving brother of Nancy (Dave) Purcell and Regina Clark. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 18th at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 Providence Road, Media, PA  19063 where friends may call 9:30-10:45 A.M. at the Church also.  Interment Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA .  In lieu of flowers, family request contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
