Joseph "Spike" Watson, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend. Spike was a man whose warm presence and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Spike was preceded in death by his father, Robert Watson, his mother, Mary, and his brother, Robert "Bobby." His memory will be treasured and kept alive by his loving siblings: Mary (Tony), John "Spider," James "Jimmy" (Karen), Thomas "Boo" (Rosemary), Catherine "Cathy" (Daniel), Elizabeth "Betty" (Joseph), and Rosemary (Bill). He was an adored uncle to many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his playful spirit and kind heart.
Educated at the Overbrook School for the Blind, Spike navigated life's challenges with resilience and determination. He went on to dedicate many years of service to the U.S. Post Office.
Spike was a sports enthusiast with a deep love for the game, whether he was on the field playing or in front of the television cheering for his favorite Philadelphia teams. He played sports with his nieces and nephews, as well as the neighborhood kids, and taught them all various games from his childhood. Also in the neighborhood he fed many stray cats, and went on to adore his cat Midnight.
As we bid farewell to Joseph "Spike" Watson, we celebrate a life lived with fun. His spirit, like the memories we hold dear, will never fade. Spike's life reminds us to cherish the simple pleasures, eat treats and play games with loved ones. He will be deeply missed, but the light he brought into the world will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved him.
