Joseph John O'Malley

Joseph John O'Malley, known affectionately as Jack, passed away on June 11, 2026, in North Cape May, New Jersey, after a lengthy illness.  He was 80 years old.  Jack was born on November 21, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and spent his life rooted in the values of hard work.  He was a Catholic and carried his faith quietly and steadily throughout his life.  Those who knew him best will remember a man who could always be counted on to bring humor, and conversation to any gathering.

Jack dedicated many years of service to the City of Philadelphia.  Later, he operated the Sand Dollar Hotel in North Wildwood for several years, where his nature and conversations were always at poolside.

After years of hard work, he eventually retired in North Wildwood, a place that became a part of the life he loved.  He especially enjoyed holding court for family and friends.  His stories and opinions were always part of family gatherings.  He also loved spending time at the beach with his grandchildren, where some of his happiest moments were shared in the simple joy of being together.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph O'Malley and Martha Jamack, his brother, John O'Malley and sisters Mary O'Malley and Martha O'Malley, his son, Kevin O'Malley, and his granddaughter, Melissa O'Malley.  He is survived by his sons, Joseph (Lisa) O'Malley, and Patrick (Missy) O'Malley; his grandchildren Patrick Flynn O'Malley and Amber Pinto; and his great-grandchildren, Ryan Shackleton and Brielle Shackleton.  He also leaves behind many loving cousins, caretakers, and friends who will miss his presence.  His life was marked by hard work and an appreciation for the people around him.  The memories he created, especially with those who gathered around him and those shared in his time at the shore, will remain a source of comfort for years to come.  Jack's legacy lives on in the stories he told, his comedic one liners and the many lives he touched along the way.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation 9:30 - 10:45 A.M. on Monday, June 29, 2026 at St. Gabriel's Church, 2917 Dickinson Street, Philadelphia, PA  19146 followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M.  Interment following at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
