Joseph Cavallo Obituary

Joseph Patrick Cavallo, age 90, known to family and friends as Joe, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2023, in Ambler, Pennsylvania. Joe was born on March 17th 1933 in Stonehurst, Upper Darby.  He was a graduate of Upper Darby High School class of 1951.

Joe was a proud resident of Havertown throughout his life, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and hard work.

Joe is survived by his loving family, including his ex-wife Dolores and their daughters Christine, Carolyn and Karen. He was a caring father-in-law to Steven Garrett, Thomas Falkenberg, and Karl Welsh. Joe was a devoted and generous grandfather to his grandchildren Matt, Lauren, Erika, Gregory and Olivia. Joe was also fortunate to have known and loved his great-grandchild Iley and her father Josh.

Joe is survived by his brother John and sister Rosemarie. His brother Albert is deceased.

Joe joined the Air Force in 1951 during the Korean War.  After completing his education at trade schools and the University of Oklahoma, Joe went on to establish a successful career in the automotive body repair industry. As the founder of Cavallo Auto Body in Drexel Hill, he became a pioneer in the auto body business, earning the respect and admiration of his customers and peers for his meticulous work.  Joe was known for his dedication, skill, and commitment to excellence in service as well as his legal advocacy for fair insurance reform. Joe's love of cars remained a constant throughout his life.

Joe's interests beyond his professional life reflected his generous and courageous nature. He had a passion for maintaining a beautiful lawn and garden, as well as providing food for local wildlife in his own backyard. Always looking to better the lives of his loved ones, he built a family vacation home in Waterbury, Vermont and owned a home in Ocean City, New Jersey. He spared no expense for his family’s care and enjoyment.

Joe was honored by local and state government as well as Veteran’s associations for a 9/11 flag pole memorial he erected with his brother John on West Chester Pike and the Blue Route.

Joe will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain alive in the hearts of his family and friends. May we take comfort in knowing that he touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate to know him.
