John Kenneth “Ken” Lynch of Havertown, PA answered the Creator’s call to the celestial stage on April 30th, 2026. He left us with laughter and memories that will outlive us all. Born to Esther and John “Jack” Lynch, he grew up in Drexel Hill, PA and graduated from Upper Darby High School (class of 1962) and Albright College (class of 1966), where he was a member of Alpha Phi Omega fraternity and ran Cross Country:
“I was a cross-country runner at Albright. This is not a popular sport. What you did in cross-country, you ran as hard as you could for 2 ½ miles and threw up. And you wondered why it wasn’t a spectator sport.”
He had a keen sense of humor and an unparalleled wit. Although his lifelong career was primarily writing/marketing/advertising, his love was entertainment. He was a steady performer of stand-up comedy in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas for nearly forty years. Frequented comedy clubs included: The Jailhouse, Going Bananas, Comedy Spotlight and Comedy Cabaret. He also worked for The Bulletin, Chilton, TV Guide, QVC, YWCA, St. Mary’s Hospital, Pennsbury School District and Haverford School District.
He had a lifetime love of sports cars, college sports and sporting venues like Franklin Field and the Palestra. In later years, he was a member/usher of Media Presbyterian Church. He was honest, humble, authentic. An active listener, trusted confidante, and a lifelong friend to the loves in his life, he was able to poke fun at himself:
“This is Valentine’s Day. It’s a day for lovers. I once thought I was in love. . .got starry-eyed, lightheaded. Then I found I had mono.”
He is predeceased by his parents, his brother, David Lynch and his brother’s wife, Ann Lynch. He is survived by his sister, Patty Kase, her husband, Paul Kase, and many nieces and nephews. He is profoundly missed by his daughter, Melanie Lynch, his son, Timothy Lynch and his son’s wife, Angela Lynch – and by the many friends, family members and lives he touched along the way.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorial contributions can be made to a donor’s choice of charity, or if so inspired, adopt a cat. He was especially fond of them.
