John “Jack” Flynn of Wilmington, DE formerly of Schuylkill, Yeadon, and Ridley Park, PA passed away on September 11, 2020, at the age of 86. John was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Michael and Margaret Flynn (nee Hyland).
John is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 59 years, Alice. She was his world.
He was one of three children, Michael “Mickey” and James “Jimmy” (Dolores). Dedicated and loving father of 5 children, Maureen, Diane (Don), John (Mariann), Erin (Mario), and Eileen. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Patrice, Victoria, Allie, Kerrie, Shannon, Brianna, Juliet, Baileigh, Mario, Alaina, Kevin, Jenny, and Chase as well as many nieces and nephews.
After graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served his country from 1954 to 1956. He earned many medals of honor and was a proud and humble veteran. He met the love of his life, Alice, and they were married on April 15, 1961. He was employed by United Parcel Service as a mechanic for 40 years and retired in 1999.
To John family was everything. He loved being surrounded by his adoring grandchildren and going to all their sporting events and activities. He was known to be everyone’s “Pop.” He enjoyed traveling with his wife on many vacations, large family dinners, and spending time with his loving wife, children, and grandchildren at their home in West Wildwood, NJ. As a man of faith, he was a devout Catholic and parishioner of The Church of the Holy Child in Wilmington, DE.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 6 – 8 pm at the Logan Funeral Home, 57 S. Eagle Road, Havertown, PA 19083, and Thursday, September 17th at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church located at 821 W. Cobbs Creek Parkway, Yeadon, PA 19050 from 9:30-10:45 AM followed by an 11:00 A.M. Funeral Mass at the church.
Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Pennsylvania.
