John Voight Obituary

John B. Voight, universally known as “Jay” by his family and friends, passed away suddenly on November 17, 2024, in Newtown Square, PA, at the age of 72.

Born on June 1, 1952, Jay was a lifelong resident of the community he loved and served. He was a proud graduate of the Marple Newtown High School Class of 1971. Throughout his life, Jay remained an active and dedicated member of his community, most notably serving as a volunteer firefighter for 20 years with the Broomall Fire Company.

In October 1974, Jay married the love of his life, Bonnie (née Lynch), who predeceased him in 2002. Together they built a beautiful family, raising two sons, Brandon and Dannon. Jay was deeply involved in his sons’ lives, coaching Brandon & Dannon in baseball and becoming a pillar of support in the Newtown Edgmont Little League (NELL), where he served as a member of the board and was instrumental in the 1996 PA State Tournament. His passion for the game and commitment to the league made a lasting impact on the community. He was also heavily involved in the Marple Newtown High School Band during Brandon’s high school years. Jay was also very influential in Dannon’s life through the Boy Scouts and the field of public safety in which he is employed as well as Broomall Fire Company where Dannon also serves as a volunteer firefighter.

Professionally, Jay was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his dedication in the craft of Printing and Graphic Arts. He spent many years as a valued employee of Alcom Printing Group (formerly Havertown Printing), where his craftsmanship was respected and admired by all who worked with him.

Jay’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, neighbors, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his sons, Brandon and Dannon, daughter-in-law Patty (Brandon’s wife), and many dear friends, and colleagues who will miss him dearly.
