John Patrick Tourish of Hainesport, NJ passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 at the age of 90. After a year of courageously battling cancer which included surgery, radiation, immunotherapy and countless doctor visits, John peacefully entered heaven with joy.
John was born in Philadelphia on May 24, 1930 to father John Patrick Tourish and mother Catherine Quinlan Tourish. John and his younger brother Thomas were their parents pride and joy. John is survived by his wife Roberta Moseley Tourish; children Kathleen Tourish O’Brien (Dan), John Tourish (Leslie), Anne Marie Tourish Moldow (Tom), Monica Tourish (Scott), Regina Tourish Wahlen (Markus) and Rosemary Tourish Schrader; grandchildren Daniel Moldow, Emily Moldow, Rose Alexandra Hunter, Danny O’Brien, Michael Wahlen, Molly O’Brien, Rachael Moldow, Lauren Tourish, Marie Wahlen, Bianca Schrader and Finnegan Schrader.
John graduated from Villanova University (biology) in 1952 followed by his time serving in the Korean War from 1952-1954. John married the love of his life, Roberta in 1955 and they started their family living in PA, NJ, NC and back to NJ. John earned his masters degree in 1963 from St. Joseph’s University (chemistry) while working and supporting his large family. John worked for Allied Signal (now Honeywell) his entire career and retired in 1994.
John had an extraordinary ability to find humor in almost any situation. That Irish wit served him well in life and blessed all those who loved him… and maybe even some who didn’t. :)
A Funeral Mass for John is planned for Monday, August 17, 2020 at 11:00 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church on 42 West Main Street, Moorestown, NJ, 08057. Interment Cherry Hill Calvary Cemetery, Merchantville, NJ, 08109. All are invited to attend. Due to the current COVID environment, all attendees are required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. For those not able to attend in person or are uncomfortable with the COVID risk, Logan Funeral Home will be filming the mass and graveside services. A link to the services will be available shortly afterwards.
