John P. Fynes

John P. Fynes, of Washington Township, New Jersey. formerly of Grays Ferry passed away on October 15, 2023 at the age of 66 surrounded by his loving family.  Beloved husband of Maryann (nee Sweeney) Fynes.  Loving Father of Colleen (Sal) Militello, Kevin (Paula), Sean (Taylor), Dehlia and Brendan Fynes.  Loving Pop of Madison, Jude, Leo, Kira, Brayden and Caydence.  In addition to his parents, the late Charles and Virginia Reed Fynes, John was preceded in death by his siblings, James Fynes, Cheryl Smith, Chuckie Fynes and Margaret Fynes.  He is survived by his siblings: Nancy Donahue, Maureen Formelio, Barbara Marini, George Fynes, Cecile Malone, and Charlene Dunphy.  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.  

John was retired from the International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers Local #14.  He also worked  for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard for many years.  John enjoyed vacationing in North Wildwood, NJ, fishing  and camping with his sons, grandsons, brothers and nephews.  He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan who loved the Eagles and Phillies.  John especially loved watching his children participate in sporting events as well.  

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 19, 2023 at St. Gabriel's Church, 2917 Dickinson Streets, Philadelphia, PA  19146 where friends may call 9:30 - 10:45 A.M. at the Church.  Interment Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA  19064.
