John Cacchione Obituary

JOHN N. CACCHIONE, of Yeadon, Pennsylvania, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 19, 1934 to the late John A. Cacchione (†1938) and Theresa D. Cacchione Narducci (née Mangravite, †1995).  He was the older brother of the late Elaine P. Cacchione (†1997) and the stepson of the late Thomas D. Narducci (†1994).  He passed from this world after a brief period of illness on September 22, 2022.

After graduating from John Bartram High School in 1952, he embarked on a forty-year career with the General Electric Company, ultimately culminating in several accounting specialties and computer systems analysis in the early days of the technological revolution.  He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army and a 1967 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.

In 1966, he became the beloved and devoted husband of Lorraine M. Cacchione (née Gangemi), and they celebrated 56 years of marriage shortly before his death.  He was also the beloved and loving father of son John F. Cacchione and daughter Elena T. Ziccardi (née Cacchione) (husband: Robert), as well as the beloved and loving grandfather of granddaughters Vanessa and Lana Ziccardi.  He has many cousins.

Aside from untiringly dedicating himself to the well being of his immediate and extended family, John was a loyal and committed member of Saint Louis Parish since his family moved to Yeadon in 1960 and of Blessed Virgin Mary Parish since its merger with Saint Louis in 2013.  Over the years, he developed many talents, skills, and hobbies.  Among them were playing softball and basketball in community leagues when he was younger, bowling, fishing, performing on his guitar, playing gin rummy and pinochle with family and friends, painting with watercolors, completing crossword puzzles, preparing various soups, and baking bread and stromboli, which were always cherished delicacies at family dinners, especially on holidays.  Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter dinners, and annual family vacations in Wildwood and Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, brought him great joy, especially when extended family were present.

On Saturday, October 1, 2022, Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial starting at 11:00 a.m., at Saint Louis Church, 821 West Cobbs Creek Parkway, Yeadon, Pennsylvania 19050.  After Mass, interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon.  A luncheon at a nearby restaurant will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redemptoris Mater Seminary, 801 West Cobbs Creek Parkway, Yeadon, Pennsylvania 19050.
